Facebook and Twitter have become the photo albums of the 21st century (thus far! I can only imagine how far media such as these will go in the next decade alone!)
Since the dawn of the digital camera age, most images were destined to a life no further than their cosy SD or Compact Flash home. To a certain extent Facebook and Twitter have liberated those photos and have given them a new platform where a plethora of people can have a peek with a click of a button.
On a personal level, this has reestablished the “close contact” and “involvement” in your friends’ lives that e-mail all but eliminated. All in “quotes” since the battle between real contact and cyber contact still rages on. With each passing day it seems that profiles in social media engines such as Facebook and Twitter are becoming more important for the mere fact that without them, you’ll be missing out on people’s news or more importantly have the *feeling* that you are missing out on something.
In terms of business, social networking has opened up a new avenue of communication. Customers and prospective customers can easily get a beat on a company by viewing their profiles and reading what other people have to say about them. They show a more human side than a website can. For photographers and designers, these are ideal places to showcase their work and generate interest.
To that end, Jade Prints has officially entered the social media realm with profiles in Twitter and Facebook!! This is where you will find newly released photos, blog posts, anecdotes, and candid shots of us in action. Drop by for a look and “Like” or “Follow” us for a front row view into Jade Prints!
What’s next you ask? If Facebook and Twitter were the dawn of a new age of photo albums, then Pinterest is the dawn of a new age of scrapbooks! We’ll be there soon…stay tuned!!!
