For over 350 years fishermen have been crossing a rope bridge to access the tiny island of Carrick-A-Rede in Northern Ireland. Nowadays tourists have largely replaced the fishermen but the wild beauty of the area doesn’t let you forget the past. Spanning 20 metres (66 feet) and hovering 30 metres (98 feet) above the rocky chasm and pounding waves, the Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge is not for the faint of heart. However, it is worth the leap of faith for the exhilarating views and sense of isolation on the island.
